FREIGHT IS GETTING A NEW COMMERCIAL LAYER.

Companies are under increasing pressure to reduce emissions from air, ocean and road freight. At the same time, solutions such as sustainable aviation fuel certificates, maritime biofuel certificates and other book-and-claim instruments make it possible to reduce freight emissions without changing the physical shipment. Refine is building the commercial infrastructure that enables freight forwarders to participate. We are creating a white-label platform that enables freight forwarders to offer lower-carbon freight solutions to their customers, from shipment and calculation to customer offer, transaction, certificates and documentation. Think of Refine as the infrastructure behind the freight forwarder, not another marketplace competing for their customers.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

Refine is early, but we are not starting from a blank sheet. A first product has been built, and the concept is being developed together with people across freight forwarding, sustainable fuels and book-and-claim infrastructure. The initial focus is mid-sized freight forwarders in Denmark and the Nordics, with the ambition to build a European company. The next step is turning the product into real customer pilots, transactions and integrations. I am looking for a co-founder to build that company with me.

WHO I AM LOOKING FOR

I am not looking for an employee. I am looking for someone who wants ownership, responsibility and the uncertainty that comes with building something from the beginning. Ideally, you complement my commercial and climate-tech background with strong capabilities within one or more of:

• Software engineering / full-stack development
• Product and UX
• Freight forwarding or logistics technology
• Building and scaling B2B SaaS products
• Data, APIs and integrations
• Previous startup experience

A technical or product-oriented profile would be particularly interesting. You do not need to know everything about SAF certificates, book-and-claim or freight emissions already. You need to be curious enough to learn the market quickly and opinionated enough to help shape the product.

WHAT YOU WOULD WORK ON

As co-founder, you would help define both the product and the company. That could include building the platform, talking directly with freight forwarders, turning customer workflows into product features, working with external data and certificate providers, developing integrations with logistics systems and deciding where Refine should and should not compete. At this stage, titles matter less than ownership.

WHAT I BRING

I have spent the past several years working commercially within climate tech, including carbon removal, CCS and Power-to-X. I am working full-time on Refine and will primarily drive commercial development, partnerships, customers, market strategy and fundraising. The ambition is not to build a consulting business around sustainability. It is to build scalable infrastructure that can sit behind freight forwarders across markets.

THE SETUP

This is a genuine co-founder position with meaningful equity. The exact split depends on experience, commitment and the role you take in building the company. Ideally, you are based in or around Aarhus, but the right person matters more than the postcode. You should have the ambition to move towards working full-time on the company if we establish the right founder fit and traction.

WHY NOW?

More companies want to reduce the emissions from their freight. Their freight forwarders are increasingly expected to help them do it. But most freight forwarders do not want to build their own supplier network, certificate infrastructure, calculation engine, documentation flow and customer-facing product from scratch. That creates an opportunity. The underlying solutions are becoming available. The market infrastructure is maturing. Customer demand is starting to move. What is still missing is a simple way for thousands of freight forwarders to turn all of that into a new business line they can sell under their own brand.
