Job Description

We are looking for a business-driven and relationship-oriented leader for the role of Head of Service Market Area – Civil Engineering. Would you like to take overall responsibility for developing and scaling our market area in Denmark?
Within our Road & Rail Service Market Area, we design and advise on sustainable transport infrastructure for future generations. You will join an ambitious, multidisciplinary environment committed to delivering functional, well-conceived, and innovative solutions across areas such as roads, drainage, tunnels, railways, and geotechnics.

As Head of Service Market Area, you will hold full responsibility for business performance, strategy, and project delivery, taking on a central and visible leadership role within our Danish organization.

You will set direction and drive the development of the Civil Engineering business area, strengthening its commercial position by building a strong pipeline, identifying new market opportunities, enhancing market positioning, and securing major projects and tenders.

You will lead through leaders, develop both people and organizational capabilities, enforce cross-border collaboration within the Nordic countries and reinforce AFRY’s position as a trusted and value-creating advisor delivering high-quality projects with strong client satisfaction.

A key part of the role is also to further develop and scale AFRY’s global delivery model, including establishing and maturing collaboration with offshore teams as an integrated part of the business.

You will be part of the management team, work closely with other divisions and disciplines, and contribute actively to overall business development—both nationally and in collaboration with AFRY’s international organization.

Qualifications
You are an experienced leader with strong business acumen, strategic perspective, and deep industry insight. You have built your career at the intersection of technical expertise, business, and leadership, and you can deliver results through others.

We expect that you:

• Hold a relevant technical or engineering degree, providing credibility in dialogue with both clients and specialists
• Have a solid background in a consulting engineering environment
• Demonstrate a strong commercial mindset with proven experience in identifying, developing, and winning business opportunities
• Bring experience from civil engineering and large, complex infrastructure projects
• Have substantial leadership experience and a proven ability to develop people, organization, and performance
• Have experience or a strong interest in working with global delivery models and Global Engineering
• Are fluent in Danish and English, both spoken and written, and communicate clearly and with credibility, building strong engagement across cultures and stakeholders.

More broadly, you bring competencies that align with AFRY’s focus on building effective collaboration models, integrating resources across disciplines and locations in projects and tenders, while consistently ensuring a high level of quality, efficiency, and knowledge sharing.

Location
AFRY has nine offices in Denmark. The Road & Rail team is based in Herlev, Herning, and Aarhus. Your primary workplace will be in Herlev.
