Communications Position - The Pioneer Centre for SMARTbiomed

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent communicator to support us in the areas below.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Communication & Branding

• Develop and implement an integrated communication strategy that supports the Centre’s scientific mission, partnerships, and international visibility.
• Maintain and strengthen the SMARTbiomed brand across all platforms, ensuring coherent messaging and alignment with centre leadership priorities.
• Prepare communication plans for key initiatives, scientific outputs, and events, with attention to both overarching strategic goals and detailed execution.

Internal Communication

• Facilitate effective communication across the Centre’s partner institutions (e.g., University of Copenhagen, Oxford, and associated hospitals and departments).
• Support leadership in preparing internal announcements, newsletters, and updates to ensure timely and accessible dissemination of information to researchers, staff, and fellows.
• Contribute to fostering a collaborative, welcoming, and well-connected working environment across interdisciplinary and international teams.

Scientific Communication Support

• Collaborate closely with researchers to translate complex scientific content into clear, engaging, and accessible communication materials for diverse audiences.
• Assist with the preparation, editing, and dissemination of project summaries, impact statements, policy-relevant findings, and major scientific announcements.
• Coordinate communication efforts around major publications, grant milestones, and conferences (e.g., EuroCIM-related activities).
• Ensure high-quality written and verbal communication in English across communication outputs and external-facing materials.

Event Promotion and Outreach

• Support the promotion of workshops, training programs, seminars, symposia, and public-facing events.
• Prepare communication materials for events, including programmes, promotional graphics, speaker biographies, and participant communications.
• Ensure documentation of events through photography, videography, and post-event reporting.
• Contribute to creating inclusive and positive experiences for participants, speakers, and collaborators.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic background in communication, or related fields, preferably at Master’s level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Danish is considered an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work constructively across professional, disciplinary, and cultural differences.
• Ability to work flexibly in smaller teams and contribute both independently and collaboratively depending on project needs.
• Service-minded and approachable, with the ability to build positive working relationships across a diverse organization.
• Ability to balance attention to detail with an understanding of broader strategic and organizational objectives.
• Experience communicating complex or technical subject matter to varied audiences is an advantage.
• Experience in an international academic or research environment is considered beneficial.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at The Pioneer Centre for SMARTbiomed, Section of Biostatistics, Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen.    

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 15 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 6 years. The starting date is 1 January 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18,07 % to your pension fund.
