We are looking for an Advanced Research Scientist to join our Reference Materials team within Analytical Development. This is an exciting opportunity to combine scientific expertise with coordination, stakeholder collaboration and regulatory documentation in a role that has a direct impact on the successful delivery of development projects across the organisation.

About the Department
You will join the Reference Materials team within Analytical Development, part of Analytical Characterisation in Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC).

The team is responsible for establishing reference materials for analysis of drug substance and drug product to support the entire development portfolio at Novo Nordisk. Our work spans from early Phase I development through Phase II, Phase III, and regulatory submissions.

Although part of Analytical Development, this is not a laboratory-based role. Instead, the team acts as the scientific hub for all reference material activities, ensuring high-quality documentation, regulatory compliance and timely delivery across the development projects.

As our portfolio continues to grow, we are strengthening our reference material team to support increasingly complex development projects across Novo Nordisk.

The Position
As an Advanced Research Scientist, you will become a key member of a small specialised team responsible for establishing analytical reference materials across the development portfolio.

Working within an established team, you will take ownership of establishing reference materials by preparing the necessary documentation, coordinating the related activities and follow the stability of the batches.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured scientific environment and takes pride in producing high-quality documentation while coordinating complex activities across several projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating reference material activities (laboratory and large-scale production, labelling, analysis, storage and distribution) across multiple development projects.
• Supporting projects from early development through Phase III and until commercial manufacture.
• Preparing, reviewing and maintaining scientific documentation (protocols, reports and regulatory documentation).
• Working closely with Analytical Project Managers and scientists across CMC.
• Ensuring GMP compliance and maintaining high documentation standards.
• Supporting regulatory documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
• Managing priorities across approximately 15–20 concurrent projects.
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Analytical Development, API, Formulation, Manufacturing and Quality.
• Contributing to continuous improvements within established processes while learning the specialist Reference Materials function.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, we imagine you have:

• A master’s degree (minimum) in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or another relevant scientific discipline. A PhD is also welcomed.
• Experience working within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Good understanding of GMP.
• Experience preparing scientific or regulated documentation.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience within CMC.
• Analytical Development experience.
• Knowledge of Reference Materials.
• Regulatory documentation experience.
• Pharmaceutical quality systems.
• Previous Reference Material experience is considered an advantage but is not essential, as this is a highly specialised area and training will be provided.

Salary & Benefits
