Partnership Officer

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Partnerships Officer to drive our global resource mobilization efforts.

Within DRC’s business development and fundraising pillar, the Global Foundations & Institutional Donors (GFID) section leads the organization’s global strategic partnership work . GFID's role is to ensure DRC takes a consistent, well-coordinated approach to prepositioning donors, institutional and foundation alike, and keep track of funding opportunities across the organization. This spans DRC's engagement with institutional donors, such as the European Commission, UN agencies, and bilateral humanitarian and development donors, as well as its growing work with foundations and high-net-worth individuals. In doing so, GFID works alongside the rest of the department to build DRC's capacity and ambition to find, grow, and deepen partnerships and fundraising activities.

 

About the job

The role supports the GFID team, particularly the Head of GFID and Senior Partnership Advisors, who work across Institutional Donor and Foundation partnerships. You will take the lead in coordinating across the team's workstreams. You will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, exercising sound judgement in prioritizing tasks, managing competing deadlines, and representing GFID. You will also work closely with colleagues in HQ, across HQ hubs, and in country offices, and provide guidance and support to junior colleagues and interns on specific tasks and projects.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Global Foundations (50%):

• Lead the Global Foundations team in identifying relevant foundations, including researching their focus areas, geographic priorities, and grant opportunities relevant to DRC.
• Assist the development and coordination of proposals and concept note submissions.
• Provide logistical support and prepare documentation for high-level meetings involving Senior Partnership Advisors, senior management, and Foundations, including briefing notes, talking points, and agendas.
• Support the preparation of donor reporting by compiling inputs from relevant DRC teams and ensuring alignment with donor requirements and deadlines.

 

Institutional Donors (Netherlands MFA and non-core donors) (25%):

• Contribute to regular communication with the Dutch Government (MinBuZa) and other selected donors, helping to identify and escalate key challenges or opportunities.
• Provide logistical support and prepare documentation for high-level meetings involving Senior Partnership Advisors, senior management, and Institutional Donors, including briefing notes, talking points, and agendas.
• Assist HQ hubs and country offices with information and donor-specific guidance to support their partnership efforts.
• Support DRC's participation in donor-related policy discussions by preparing background materials and attending relevant meetings, as needed.

 

Cross-cutting tasks (25%)

• Contribute to DRC's strategic fundraising development through high-level support to the Head of GFID, Senior Partnership Advisors and regionally based Business Development & Donor Engagement Advisors.
• Support the maintenance and regular updating of GFID workplans, in close collaboration with the Head of GFID, ensuring deliverables are clearly tracked.
• Lead the due diligence process for new donors, including coordinating with relevant teams and compiling the required documentation.
• Lead and provide general support to business development efforts, including guidance on BD tools, coordination on organizational policies related to business development, and maintenance of the service catalogue.

 

About you

We are looking for a proactive and organized individual, who can work independently while collaborating effectively with others. In addition, we expect the following:

 

Required

• Completed university degree in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, humanitarian affairs, development studies, or similar).
• Two to three years’ experience within resource mobilization and/or the displacement sector.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong drafting skills, including the ability to prepare briefing notes, talking points, and correspondence for senior stakeholders.
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working in an international, cross-cultural environment.

 

Desirable

• Fluency in other languages, particularly Danish, French and/or Arabic is a distinct advantage. 
• Experience in a coordinating role (e.g., overseeing interns or student assistants).

We offer

Contract length: 12 months

Work location: Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, just by Ryparken station
Start date: As soon as possible

The position is temporary, and any extension of the contract is subject to the availability of funding.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and the relevant union agreement. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
