Payroll Administrator for Denmark with EMEA growth opportunity

Help us strengthen payroll in Denmark and help shape our future payroll setup across Europe
We are looking for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of our Danish payroll operations while helping us strengthen and mature how payroll is coordinated across Europe.
This role combines operational payroll ownership with the opportunity to help improve processes, governance and ways of working in a growing international environment.
To be transparent: our payroll setup is not yet fully mature, particularly from a broader European governance perspective. Concretely, our processes across vendors are not yet aligned, and internal documentation is an area we want to strengthen. That is precisely the opportunity in this role - there is significant potential to bring structure, consistency and stronger ways of working, and you will have real influence in shaping it.
Instead, we are looking for someone who is comfortable stepping into an environment where structure is still being strengthened and who can balance hands-on payroll delivery with a pragmatic mindset for creating clarity, improving processes and helping establish stronger ways of working over time.
This is therefore a role for someone who enjoys both operational responsibility and continuous improvement.
Your role
Your primary responsibility will be ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery across our 5 Danish entities, covering approximately:
- 100 hourly employees
- 300 salaried employees
This includes responsibility for:
- End-to-end Danish payroll administration
- Payroll across relevant collective agreements, including 3F, Danish Metal, Electricians and Confederation of Danish Industry agreements
- Payroll reporting to authorities and external partners, including SKAT, pensions, reimbursements, absence administration and statutory reporting
- Preparation, validation and quality assurance of payroll data
- Investigation and resolution of payroll discrepancies
- Maintenance of payroll master data, pay structures and salary information
- Staying current on payroll legislation and collective agreement changes
Danish payroll excellence is the core of this role and strong hands-on experience is essential.
Supporting payroll coordination across Europe
In addition to Danish payroll operations, you will help strengthen how we coordinate payroll activities across our entities in 7 European counties:
- Acting as a central point of coordination between internal stakeholders and external payroll providers
- Collecting, validating and coordinating payroll inputs across entities
- Reviewing payroll outputs, exception reporting and quality controls
- Supporting compliance and governance in collaboration with local stakeholders and providers
- Helping ensure consistency, transparency and stronger control across payroll processes
Helping build a stronger payroll foundation
A key part of this role is helping us mature our payroll setup.
That means being comfortable working in an environment where some processes may still depend on individuals, where documentation may need strengthening, and where roles, responsibilities or governance structures are still evolving.
We are looking for someone who can operate effectively in that reality, not by over-engineering, but by bringing structure, ownership and a practical improvement mindset.
This could include:
- Improving payroll documentation and process clarity
- Strengthening controls and governance
- Supporting standardisation where it makes sense
- Helping improve collaboration with payroll providers and internal stakeholders
- Contributing to a more scalable payroll operating model over time
What we are looking for
You bring solid hands-on Danish payroll experience and confidence in managing payroll accurately in a complex environment.
We imagine you also bring several of the following:
- It is preferred that you bring proven ability to take responsibility beyond execution and work with governance, structure and process improvement in European payroll setups
- We particularly value candidates who are comfortable working in environments where processes are still evolving
- It will be a strong advantage if you have experience with collective agreements and statutory payroll reporting
- Strong understanding of payroll controls, compliance and quality assurance
- A structured, detail-oriented and ownership-driven mindset
- Confidence working with multiple stakeholders across Finance, HR, IT and the business
- Experience with payroll vendors, multiple payroll environments or payroll process improvement
- Familiarity with payroll systems
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll topics clearly to both specialists and non-specialists across European sites and functions
