Job purpose

As our new Head of Communications and Marketing you will work directly with senior leadership, to build Reel’s brand and bring it to life in a complex market, positioning Reel as a central voice in the European energy and flexibility conversation.

To begin with, your main responsibilities are centered around capturing and activating Reel’s brand, and building recognition and credibility around it. We envision that the right candidate will eventually make Reel among the most recognised and trusted energy company.

This is a high impact role where you will work for a VC-funded climate tech company. Your work will be integral to helping companies reduce their CO₂-emissions, take control of their energy costs and decarbonize our electricity grid.

What your role will look like

• Own Reel's brand narrative and positioning. Build the story of what Reel is, who we serve, and why we are different - and bring it to life across the website, external channels, sales materials, and investor materials. Reel sells into a complex and impactful market, which most people do not yet understand. Our new Head of Communications and Marketing ensures Reel shows up consistently as a trustworthy, impactful and innovative B2B electricity brand across Denmark and Germany.

• Set direction and prioritize. Make clear, well-reasoned choices about where Reel invests time and resources - and bring the wider team, customers, and stakeholders along. The Reel brand is built by many strong voices within and around Reel, and this role helps set clarity and direction for how to channel them to their full potential.

• Build recognition and credibility where our target audiences are paying attention. Lead external communications and PR across DK and DE through press releases, media relations, and thought leadership to position Reel in the energy and flexibility conversation.

• Ensure Reel's value proposition and offerings are communicated with clarity. Work closely with the Commercial team to reach the right audiences. Own the website as the primary expression of this: clear messaging and CTAs and an intuitive user experience. Support growth and demand generation efforts where communications and marketing overlap - content, LinkedIn, and employer branding.

• Lead and develop a small team. Own communications and marketing, working closely with our marketing manager and brand designer to elevate the quality of output and staying hands-on across brand, copy, web, and campaigns when needed.

We think you will thrive in this role if

You bring:

• 5+ years in communications and marketing, with significant time in a leadership role owning brand and direction

• A demonstrated track record of building or repositioning a brand - whether in a technical B2B context (energy, climate tech, fintech, SaaS) or from a complex B2C brand

• Personal experience building a brand narrative end to end and shipping it on a primary brand asset like a website - bonus if the category was complex or hard to explain

• Strong instincts for external communications and PR - you know how to land a story and build credibility in a new market

• Experience working cross-functionally, activating and aligning people across teams, customers, and stakeholders around a brand

• Experience operating with small teams and tight budgets - you know how to do a lot with limited resources

• Strong written and verbal communication in English, fluent Danish strongly preferred (German is a plus)

• Experience scaling communications across multiple European markets, ideally Denmark and Germany

• Series A–C startup/scale-up experience where speed and lean execution matter

• Passionate about copy and design - and the conviction to hold the bar for what ships

• Hands-on when it matters - happy to write a press release or brief an agency one day and present strategy to leadership the next

• Curious about how the communications landscape is evolving, particularly around AI-driven content and distribution
