Software Engineer – Agentic AI & Java, SitaWare Insight

The job

You'll combine software engineering with LLM expertise to design and implement AI agents and multi-agent workflows for SitaWare Insight. You'll enhance our existing AI Assistant with new actionable flows and help shape how agentic AI supports critical decision-making.

Your key tasks will include:
•    Designing and documenting AI agents, tool definitions, and RAG pipelines that connect agents to internal structured and unstructured data
•    Building multi-agent sets using orchestration patterns such as routing, delegation, and result aggregation
•    Writing production-grade code with full test coverage, structured logging, and robust error handling
•    Collaborating with domain experts to translate customer journeys into agent task decompositions and evaluation rubrics.

SitaWare is central to critical decision processes, so we always keep a human in the loop and build traceability into every AI solution. We're agnostic to tooling: we work in both Java and Python and choose the framework that fits the task, running models on-premises or with cloud providers depending on customer needs.

Joining the team
SitaWare Insight program has currently close to 45 Systems Engineers, Architects and Test split up into 5 SCRUM teams and we are growing to meet the demand from our customers. 
The program is part of a product organization, meaning it consists of a project and people manager, a Product Manager and a UX designer. Part of the program is in Copenhagen and part of the program in Aarhus. Collaboration between teams in Aarhus and Copenhagen is ongoing on daily basis.

The new team is planned to consist of an Architect, 5-9 developers and 1-2 testers.

For our new team within the program, we are looking for 3-6 software engineers at different levels of seniority to join our Agentic AI team and work alongside colleagues who track the latest developments in AI and help decide how to put them to real use. This is your chance to work with modern technologies and contribute directly to the advancement of our product, SitaWare Insight is shaping the future of AI-driven solutions in a domain where the outcomes genuinely matter.

Your qualifications
We're hiring across seniority levels, so you don't need to check every box below — but you should have a solid foundation in software engineering and a genuine interest in AI/agentic systems. Depending on your level of experience, we expect some combination of:

•    Backend development experience in Java or similar
•    Frontend development experience in Angular or similar
•    Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
•    Understanding of microservices and message queues
•    Solid software engineering practices: testing, logging, observability, and version control.

For senior profiles, we also expect:
•    5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on LLM or AI systems, building and deploying AI-powered applications in Java and Python
•    Hands-on experience with an orchestration framework, and a strong understanding of RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding models, hybrid search, and function-calling patterns
•    Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks and metrics such as relevance, faithfulness, and hallucination detection.

Travel days: 2-4 weeks per year. This provides opportunities for collaboration and cross-team engagement.
