We are looking for a highly motivated and independent academic employee (bachelor) to support our efforts in understanding the regulation of lipid metabolism to commence 4th August 2026 or soon after.

Our research

The Molecular Lipid Metabolism Group, led by Associate Professor Andreas Mæchel Fritzen, is offering an opportunity to join our team. Our mission is to d eepen our understanding of the molecular regulation of lipid metabolism. We are at the moment particularly interested in identifying molecular mechanisms behind health effects of lipids and trying to understand the crosstalk between lipid handling in liver and its regulation of whole-body metabolism. We are pursuing this by combining invasive and well-controlled human studies in patients and healthy individuals with more mechanistic studies in rodents and cell models and take advantage of various biochemical lab analysis and omics technologies to investigate molecular regulation at a cellular level.

Your job

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team where your tasks will be to perform wet lab molecular biology and biochemical analyses of blood and tissues harvested in cellular studies, preclinical rodent studies and from human clinical studies.

You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research project in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic academic employee with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

• You have experience in performing biochemical analyses such as western-blotting and ELISA analyses
• You have experience and are comfortable with animal handling and rodent metabolic studies
• You have an active interest in lipid metabolism, preclinical studies, lab analyses and related fields
• You are a team player with both an independent and collaborative mindset
• You are fluent in both Danish and English, written and spoken
• You have obtained a bachelor’s degree in human biology, human physiology, medicine, molecular biomedicine, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent

Desirable experience and skills

• Experience and knowledge of statistical analysis with Graphpad Prism
• Experience and knowledge with subcutaneous and intraperitoneal administration as well as oral gavage administration of drugs and metabolites to mice
• Experience with data management and statistical testing

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Maersk Tower, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and clinical facilities.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 12 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is 4 August 2026 or after agreement.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
