ERP Technical Architect - D365 Finance & Operations

As an ERP Technical Architect in Accenture, you will be the technical backbone of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) implementations, driving the design and delivery of robust, scalable, and high-performance technical solutions. You will work alongside functional architects, data engineers, and integration specialists to translate complex business requirements into reliable technical architectures that unlock the full potential of the D365 platform.

You will be part of Accenture’s global ERP talent community, contributing to the definition of technical standards, development best practices, and platform modernization strategies that increasingly leverage AI-powered automation, low-code/no-code extensibility, and cloud-native capabilities on Microsoft Azure.

Technical Architecture & Design

• Lead the end-to-end technical architecture of D365 F&O across global ERP programs.
• Design and oversee the technical blueprint including solution design, data modeling, integration architecture, and extensibility frameworks.
• Define and govern the use of X++ development, Power Platform extensions, and Azure-based integrations to meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with functional and data architects to ensure solution integrity and cross-platform alignment.
• Drive adoption of Microsoft best practices including LCS methodology, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and DevOps pipelines.
• Participate in Accenture Communities of Practice (COP) for Technical Architecture.

Integration & Platform Engineering

• Architect and oversee integrations between D365 F&O and third-party systems using:
  • Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid)
  • Dataverse and Dual-Write for Microsoft ecosystem alignment
  • OData, REST, SOAP, and custom web services
• Design data migration strategies, data transformation logic, and migration tooling (DIXF, Azure Data Factory).
• Ensure technical designs support high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability requirements.

Delivery Quality & Governance

• Establish and enforce technical standards, coding guidelines, and quality gates across delivery teams.
• Lead code reviews, technical design reviews, and solution assurance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project estimation, resource planning, and technical risk management for multi-phase programs.
• Partner with Delivery Leads and Functional Architects to maintain scope coherence and manage technical debt.

Thought Leadership

• Contribute to global technical standards, reusable components, accelerators, and architectural patterns for D365 F&O.
• Provide subject-matter leadership on emerging platform capabilities including Copilot Studio, AI Builder, and Power Automate in technical contexts.
• Mentor and develop junior technical consultants globally, building Accenture’s next generation of ERP technical capability.

Qualification

Core Technical Expertise

• Deep hands-on experience with D365 F&O technical components, including:
  • X++ development and best practices
  • Extensions, event handlers, and chain-of-command (CoC) patterns
  • Data entities, composite entities, and DIXF
  • Batch frameworks, workflow engine, and alert framework
  • Form development, security roles and privileges, and personalization
• Strong experience designing and building integrations with Azure services and external platforms.
• Proficiency with Lifecycle Services (LCS), Azure DevOps, and D365 ALM tooling.
• Working knowledge of D365 F&O deployment models (cloud, on-premise, hybrid) and environment management.

Architecture & Leadership Skills

• Proven experience leading technical architecture on full lifecycle D365 F&O implementations.
• Ability to drive technical governance, solution integrity, and cross-workstream alignment across large programs.
• Skilled at producing technical design documents, integration specifications, and solution blueprints.
• Experience with performance tuning, SQL optimization, and Tier-2+ environment configuration.

AI Skills & Preferred Knowledge

Not mandatory, but highly valued for future-ready transformation programs.

• Understanding of Microsoft AI and Copilot capabilities embedded in D365 F&O and the Power Platform.
• Experience designing or deploying AI-enhanced technical features such as intelligent automation, AI Builder models, or Copilot Studio integrations.
• Familiarity with using AI tools to accelerate technical delivery (e.g., code generation, test automation, documentation).
• Awareness of AI governance, responsible AI, and data security principles in enterprise contexts.

Consulting & Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset and comfort operating in global, multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, technical risks, and delivery timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for project delivery and backlog management.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Microsoft D365 F&O / AX technical consulting or development experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Lead or Architect on at least two full-cycle D365 F&O implementations.
• Experience in complex integration and data migration projects is highly desirable.
• Professional certifications (MB-500: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer, Azure Developer, or related) are a strong plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred.
