Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University (Denmark) invites applications for a 4-month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position with focus on Cryptography. The starting date is November 1st, 2026, - subject to mutual agreement.

Role description
This is a full-time (37 hours/week) on-site role located at Åbogade 34, 8200 Aarhus N, Denmark for a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research on Consensus Protocols with the Cryptography and Cybersecurity Research Group at Aarhus University.

The focus of the position will be on the scalability of consensus protocols, in particular DAG-based consensus protocols and asymmetric trust.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty members and fellow researchers to produce research results in applied MPC
• Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students working on related research projects
• Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals in computer science and related fields
• Participate in academic activities such as seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay informed of the latest developments in the field

Required qualifications

• Ph.D. in computer science or similiar
• Interest in developing and evaluating consensus protocols and their applications
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques and tools for applied consensus and blockchain
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines effectively
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in formulating and executing own research projects

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation .

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions at basic salary steps 4-8.
