Platform Engineer at Whiteaway Group

Would you like to help build and develop the platform that makes it easier for Whiteaway’s software Engineers to develop, deploy and run their solutions?

Whiteaway Group is looking for a skilled Platform Engineer to join their Platform Squad in Aarhus.
As a Platform Engineer, you will become part of a strong technical environment focused on building and continuously improving the platform used by Whiteaway’s development teams in their daily work.

This is not traditional IT operations. Instead, the focus is on creating automated, stable and scalable solutions that make it easier for Engineers to develop, deploy and run their software.

Whiteaway is a digital-first company where technology plays a central role in the business. The company operates some of the largest online stores in the Nordics within electronics and home appliances, and its technical platforms are an important part of the continued development of the business.

Your role
You will play a central role in developing and improving Whiteaway’sinternal platform and will work closely with software Engineers and the other members of the Platform Squad.

A key part of the role is the close collaboration with Engineers. You will be curious about how they work, understand their needs and challenges, and use their feedback to identify how workflows, processes and platform tooling can be made simpler, faster and better.

Over the coming years, Whiteaway will be taking the platform to a significantly higher level. A key focus will be reducing and removing legacy and building a more modern, scalable and developer-friendly platform. AI will also play an increasingly important role in how the platform develops and how Whiteaway’s Engineers work.

Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and continuously improving the cloud platform
Automating deployment and development processes
Infrastructure as Code
CI/CD pipelines
Containerisation and Kubernetes
Cloud infrastructure – primarily AWS
Monitoring, observability and reliability
Engineering tooling and self-service solutions
Security and access management
Troubleshooting and optimising platform performance and stability

The role offers a high degree of freedom, and you will have the opportunity to take ownership and influence both the technology and the way the team works.

Whiteaway believes in freedom under responsibility. You will have the opportunity to take ownership, influence technical decisions and help shape both the platform and the way the team works.

We imagine that you…
You have a strong technical background and experience within software development, cloud, DevOps or platform engineering. Perhaps you are already working as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or Senior Software Engineer with strong cloud and infrastructure experience.

Your title is less important than your motivation to work hands-on with platform engineering and your ability to thrive at the intersection of software development, cloud and operations. Experience with general software development is an advantage, particularly Node.js and/or Go.

We would like you to have experience with several of the following technologies and tools:

AWS
Kubernetes
Docker
Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
CI/CD
Git/GitHub
Linux
Node.js and/or Go
Datadog
ArgoCD
Spacelift
Cloudflare
Monitoring and observability
Networking and cloud infrastructure

Experience with GitOps is an advantage, but not a requirement. Experience with security or with the intersection between operations and software development is also considered an advantage.

You do not need to know everything. What matters most is that you have strong technical curiosity, can understand complex problems and are motivated to continuously improve the way things are done.

Your professional development is important to Whiteaway.

You will have the opportunity to work with development plans, strengthen your technical skills and take your expertise to the next level. At the same time, knowledge sharing is an important part of the culture – you are expected not only to develop yourself, but also to help lift others around you.

On a personal level, drive, determination and humility are highly valued. You take ownership and get things done, while remaining curious, collaborative and motivated to find the best solutions together with others.

What Whiteaway offers
At Whiteaway, you will be part of an informal, inclusive and supportive leadership culture where Engineers have real ownership and the opportunity to influence their work. The culture is built around experimentation, knowledge sharing and continuous learning, with opportunities to take part in hackathons, pair programming and MOB programming, as well as access to learning resources.

The social side of working together is also important. People at Whiteaway genuinely enjoy working together, and there is a strong focus on building good relationships across the team. Through activities such as hackathons, Improvement Mondays and other social initiatives, there are plenty of opportunities to come together, share knowledge, experiment and have fun.

Whiteaway also values a healthy work-life balance, a great lunch and good colleagues. The office is located in Skejby, with free parking.
