Part-Time Lecturer position for the course Playable Media, K-GAMES at the IT University

  Job description  
The MSc in Games is looking for a Part-time Lecturer to co-teach the first-year course 'Playable Media' from Spring 2027 onward. We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in game studies or a relevant field who can teach topics such as critical design, playground design, speculative design, playable installations, and serious games, and supervise experimental play design projects. The role involves teaching students key game design methods and practices, game production, and teamwork skills, working across multiple development platforms and game engines. Examination and assessment, carried out together with the other course teachers, is also part of the position.

The ideal candidate has prior teaching experience in a university setting, professional experience in game production, proficient written and spoken English, and solid coordination skills, along with a motivation for teaching game design and production to master's students. As the course is taught by a team, we also expect a willingness to share the teaching load and distribute responsibilities according to each teacher's availability and capacity.

Salary and terms of employment  

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at universities.

Qualification Requirements  

The following qualifications are required: 

• Candidates should have a MSc (or equivalent)

And at least one of the following qualifications 

• Relevant high-level practical experience not obtained through a university, scientific employment 

• Employment in a main scientific position at another university

The applicant will be assessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012. 

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
