We are looking for
One (1) to two (2) teaching assistants (amanuenses) for the bachelor’s programme in criminology at the Department of Criminology, Faculty of Health and Society, Malmö University.

Work duties
As a teaching assistant on the bachelor’s programme in criminology, your work duties will include, among other things, assisting teachers during seminars, workshops and statistics labs, as well as providing students with support in formulating research questions, academic writing, and conducting literature searches in the university’s databases. All communication between teaching assistants and students is in English. Other assisting work duties may also occur.

Qualifications
Only those admitted to first or second-cycle courses and study programmes may be employed as teaching assistants (Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Ordinance).

In addition to formal competence, University employees must possess the personal capacities necessary to perform the duties of the position well and to represent the University in the best possible way.

Specific requirements for this position:

• Applicants must be enrolled in the master’s programme in criminology at Malmö University.
• By Se telefonnummer på studerendeonline.dk applicants must have received a passing grade (A–E) in the courses KA811E, KA912E, KA913E, KA823E, KA922E.
• Good knowledge of research methodology and criminological theory.
• Good knowledge of academic writing.
• Very good proficiency in English.
• An interest in supporting other students in their learning process.

The following would be of benefit for the position:

• Experience of conducting systematic literature reviews.
• Experience of international educational environments.
• Experience of supporting other students in their learning process or other pedagogical activities relevant to the position.
• Good ability to be supportive and understanding towards students in pedagogical contexts.
• Good planning and collaboration skills, as well as a good ability to work independently.

Faculty, Department and Research environment
The faculty offers programmes and courses in, among other fields, nursing, biomedicine, criminology, sexology, disability and rehabilitation studies, and social work. Most programmes lead to a professional degree, but there are also opportunities for further studies at the master’s level in most subjects.

Both medical and social science research are conducted at the faculty. There are large research groups in biomedical science, sexology, criminology and social vulnerability. The research is multifaceted and closely linked to society and industry.

The department provides education in criminology at both first-cycle and second-cycle levels, in the form of degree programmes as well as standalone courses.

Research in criminology at Malmö University has a broad focus. Our research includes, among other things, why some people become offenders or victims, why certain places have higher levels of crime than others, and what can be done about it.
