We are Grenaa Games , an independent studio currently developing a high-stakes gladiator management game set in a stylized version of Ancient Rome. The project is ambitious but focused, with a strong design vision and a small dedicated team.

The Role

We are looking for a solo Animator to own the full animation pipeline for the game. This is a full-time contract role (25 months).

Responsibilities

• Combat Animation, Creating high-quality, visceral keyframe animations for gladiator combat (melee, ranged, defensive, finishing moves).

• Rigging & Skinning, Building and maintaining character rigs, weight painting, and ensuring clean deformations.

• Iteration & Polish, Collaborating closely with design to refine readability, timing, and impact of animations.

• Ownership, As the project’s solo animator, you will manage the full pipeline from rig setup to final in-game animation.

Requirements 

• Proven experience in character animation for games.

• Skills in rigging and weight painting.

• Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g. Maya or Blender).

• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver high-quality results remotely.

Nice-to-Haves

• Previous experience on stylized or combat-heavy games.

• Experience implementing animations in Unity.

• Understanding of Roman/ancient combat styles (or willingness to research).
