Technical Lab Manager for NQCP

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Program (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum program in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing program, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels - from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.  The long-term mission of the program is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.

About us

The Atom Fabrication group aims to combine the fields of nanofabrication and atomic physics to explore fabrication methods that leverage the clean, precise and selective nature of lasers at the scale of individual atoms. At this junction of two established fields emerges rich physics that is both fundamentally important but also has huge commercial potential.

Responsibilities:

Technical Lab Manager for the UHV Tech Laboratory. Responsibilities include:

• Providing mechanical support for laboratory activities, including close collaboration with the NBI mechanical workshop.
• Maintaining laboratory infrastructure and coordinating with external contractors and service providers.
• Providing IT and software support for laboratory control systems and automation.
• Supporting data management practices and ensuring good data hygiene across laboratory activities.
• Assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and experimental setups.
• Contributing to the continued development and operation of the UHV laboratory facilities.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

• A Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience working in a laboratory, research, or technical environment.
• Strong practical and technical problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as academic officer or special consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working hours are 37 hours per week on average and the working hours are flexible. The position is limited until 31 December 2029.

Appointment will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.
