Skilled Dairy Herdsman / Herd Manager (m/f/d) Funen, Denmark

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Dairy Herdsman / Herd Manager to join our modern dairy and arable farm on the island of Funen, Denmark. This position is ideal for someone with a strong passion for dairy farming, animal welfare, and herd management who enjoys taking responsibility and working closely with a small professional team.

About the Farm

160 dairy cows
200 hectares of arable land
Modern 26-stall rotary milking parlour
Small and efficient team of 3 employees
Close cooperation with the farm owner

Main Responsibilities

Managing daily milking operations and maintaining high hygiene standards to ensure excellent milk quality
Monitoring cow health, heat detection, and assisting with artificial insemination
Managing fresh cow routines, calving assistance, and calf rearing
Recording treatments and maintaining herd management data
Working closely with veterinarians and hoof trimmers
Maintaining a clean, organized, and calm barn environment
Assisting with tractor driving and field work during busy seasonal periods

Requirements

Relevant agricultural or dairy education (such as German Tierwirt Rinderhaltung, Dutch MBO Veehouderij, or similar)
Solid practical experience in dairy farming and herd management
Good understanding of cow welfare, milking routines, and livestock health
Ability to work independently and take responsibility
Basic tractor and field work experience is an advantage
Good English communication skills

Qualification

Your Profile:
Completed agricultural education (e.g., German Tierwirt, Dutch MBO Level 3/4, or equivalent). Minimum 3 years of professional dairy farming experience required. Experience with rotary milking systems and modern tractors/farm machinery is an advantage. Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented team player with a strong focus on animal welfare and farm operations. Conversational English, Danish, or German required for daily communication.
