Senior AI & Scientific Workflow Automation Engineer

Agilent seeks a Senior AI & Scientific Workflow Automation Engineer to design and implement automation and AI-enabled solutions for an R&D organization developing regulated cancer diagnostic instruments and reagents. The role involves partnering with scientists to translate workflow challenges into scalable, compliant solutions that improve quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Partner with scientists and domain experts to understand workflows, compliance needs, and acceptance criteria
- Translate scientific needs into validated AI-enabled solutions for regulated workflows
- Identify and lead automation initiatives from concept through implementation and adoption
- Develop digital tools using Python, Power Platform, analytics, and AI-assisted development technologies
- Define scalable frameworks and best practices for data collection, analysis, reporting, and decision support
Requirements
- Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, bioinformatics, biotechnology, or laboratory science
- Experience designing and implementing AI-enabled workflows using LLMs and generative AI APIs
- Experience developing agentic or tool-enabled AI workflows integrated with applications, APIs, and data sources
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and grounding AI solutions in trusted information
- Ability to translate scientific and laboratory needs into robust, reusable, well-documented solutions
- Understanding of guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls, and risk-based approaches for reliable AI workflows
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
