Internship in Game Development (Autumn 2026)

Is making games something you think about a little too much?

Are you studying something that points you toward a future in games, and are you looking for a place where curiosity, collaboration, and slightly unhinged ideas are all part of the job?

We’re opening a small number of internship spots across different disciplines for autumn 2026, and we’d love to hear from students who want to spend 2 to 5 months getting close to real game production at an indie studio in Copenhagen.

At Triband, we make comedy games. That means we spend a lot of time asking questions like: What if this mechanic behaved completely wrong, but in the best possible way? Where does the joke live in the interaction? How do we make something feel polished, surprising, and slightly absurd at the same time? As an intern, you’ll join one of our game teams and take part in the day-to-day work of answering these questions.

You won’t be expected to arrive as a finished professional, but you’re absolutely expected to be curious, open to feedback, and ready to learn by trying things. And together with your team and mentor, you’ll shape an internship path that fits your discipline, your studies, and the kind of games professional you’re hoping to become.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day

• Join one of our teams and get close to the daily rhythm of an indie studio that takes silliness very seriously.

• Take part in team rituals like stand-ups, playtests, reviews, and production conversations.

• Work with your mentor to define what you want to learn, where you want feedback, and what kind of tasks make sense for your development.

• Contribute to production-relevant work within your discipline, at a level that fits your experience.

• Get sparring from your mentor and teammates, not just on your craft, but also on how to work well in a creative team.

• Be part of a kind, international group of people who care about making good games and making each other laugh.

You’re probably a good fit if

• You’re looking for an internship as part of your studies and are available in autumn 2026.

• You’re studying game design, game development, computer science, digital arts, production, QA, technical art, or something adjacent.

• You want to learn by doing, not just watching from the sidelines.

• You enjoy working with others and understand that games are made by teams, not lone geniuses.

Practicalities

• No crunch. People over deadlines.

• The internship is…

  • unpaid,

  • in autumn 2026,

  • 2 to 5 months, and

  • anywhere between 10 and 37 hours per week (depending on your study requirements and availability).

• You need to be enrolled in a university program that supports an internship as part of your education.

• You need to be able to work from our Copenhagen office (2-5 days/week depending on what we agree on).

• We don’t offer relocation, visa, or housing search assistance for internships. In formal terms: employment as a temporary intern cannot form the basis for a Danish work visa permit.

WHAT THE TRIBAND?

Triband is the award-winning studio behind the WHAT THE? comedy game series, which is played by millions worldwide. From our home in central Copenhagen, more than 50 wonderful humans are united by our mission to make everyone laugh. To do so, we focus on exploring comedy through gameplay. We like to break player expectations, use wonderful music, slick art, and create a quirky atmosphere. We experiment a lot, and it doesn’t always work out, but we always learn something.
