Senior IT Project Manager

As our new Senior IT Project Manager , you will take a central role in turning important IT priorities into tangible results.

You will directly lead a major, company-wide data platform programme, from the first implementation in one business area to a phased rollout across the organisation. At the same time, you will provide the project-management drive across a broader portfolio of strategic IT initiatives within areas such as information security, compliance, infrastructure, customer-facing systems and emerging technology. Some of these projects will be owned by others, but you will be the person ensuring that they continue to move forward: creating structure, maintaining momentum, aligning stakeholders, identifying risks early and helping bring projects back on track when needed.

You should note that the role combines senior project leadership with the ability to engage meaningfully in the technical delivery. You will not only create structure, drive progress and report on status, but also need to understand the solutions well enough to challenge vendors, test assumptions and take direct ownership of smaller technical implementations from start to finish.

What you will do

Data Platform Programme: Lead a company-wide data platform project end-to-end, from the initial deployment in one business area to a phased expansion across the organisation as a foundation for reporting, analytics and future AI-driven insights.

IT Project Portfolio: Drive project management across a portfolio of strategic IT initiatives spanning information security and compliance, infrastructure, customer-facing systems and emerging technology. The individual projects may be owned by others, but you will ensure that they remain structured, aligned and moving forward.

Project Governance & Reporting: Ensure structured follow-up, milestone tracking and formal project closure across the portfolio. Maintain a clear and consistent reporting cadence to management covering status, risks, dependencies and decisions required.

Risk Management & Remediation: Use your experience and judgement to identify early when a project is heading in the wrong direction, including when formal status reporting may not yet reflect the underlying challenges. Raise issues promptly, propose practical mitigation and actively help bring projects back on track rather than only escalating concerns.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Work closely with project owners, management and stakeholders across MyDefence to maintain accountability, alignment and momentum without taking ownership away from the relevant project owner. Engage external vendors with enough technical understanding to challenge proposals, timelines and pricing and to validate that delivered solutions match what was promised.

Hands-on Technical Delivery: Take ownership of smaller technical implementations end-to-end rather than only coordinating them. Contribute technically across workplace IT, infrastructure and other deliveries where needed, working alongside the IT team and external vendors. Translate between technical teams, vendors and the business, assess proposed solutions, identify gaps and help make technology work in practice.

What you bring
You are used to leading complex IT projects, working across multiple stakeholders and translating strategic technology priorities into structured execution and tangible results.

Education : You have a relevant degree in IT, engineering or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience: Significant experience, typically at least seven years, delivering large and complex IT projects from initiation through implementation and formal closure. Your background may include infrastructure, data platforms, enterprise systems or similarly complex technology programmes. You have a proven track record of identifying and course-correcting projects at risk. Experience with data platform deployments and AI or machine-learning initiatives will be considered an advantage, as will familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and GDPR.

Project Management Expertise: Strong experience establishing project structure, governance, milestones, reporting and stakeholder alignment across complex initiatives. You are comfortable driving progress across projects where ownership is distributed across different functions and ensuring that actions, dependencies and decisions are followed through. You also have a solid technical foundation across architecture, infrastructure and data platforms, enabling you to understand proposed solutions, challenge assumptions and identify when technical or delivery plans do not add up. A recognised project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP or IPMA is an advantage.

Tools and Systems: Proficiency with common project management, portfolio management and collaboration tools, including Microsoft 365.

Communication: Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to hold senior colleagues, project owners and external vendors accountable in a constructive and diplomatic way. You communicate clearly and concisely and are comfortable reporting progress, risks and decisions to management.

Language : Professional proficiency in English is required, and Danish language skills are an advantage.

The team you will join
You will become part of IT & Security and report to our CISO. The role does not include direct staff responsibility, but you will play a central role in creating alignment, accountability and progress across organisational boundaries.

You will work closely with colleagues, project owners and management across the entire MyDefence organisation, as well as with external vendors and implementation partners.
