Job Title:

Senior Engineer, Embedded Software

The Impact You'll Make
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Team Lead , you will play a key role in shaping the embedded software that powers our products while leading the daily operations of a talented engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with people and process leadership in a role where you can make a visible impact on both technology and team success.

You'll be joining a team that values collaboration, trust, and shared success. The team actively supports one another, challenges ideas constructively, and works together to solve complex engineering challenges. As Team Lead, you won't be expected to have all the answers. Instead, you'll be supported by experienced engineers who believe the best results come from combining different perspectives, sharing ownership, and learning together.

The team is also known for its curiosity and willingness to explore new ways of working. As an early adopter of AI-enabled engineering practices, the team actively evaluates how emerging technologies can improve development workflows, increase efficiency, and create value for both engineers and the business. With a mindset of “Can we?” and “If so, how?”, the team continuously looks for opportunities to innovate and challenge conventional approaches. This creates an exciting environment for someone who enjoys combining technical excellence with continuous improvement

Your work will directly influence the quality, reliability, and performance of our products while helping shape both the future of embedded software development and the way engineering teams work across Danfoss.

What You’ll Be Doing

• In this dual-role position, you'll balance hands-on engineering with team leadership responsibilities, helping drive both technical excellence and effective collaboration
• Design, develop, and optimize embedded software solutions in C and C++, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and performance
• Lead the team's day-to-day activities, coordinating priorities, planning, and execution to support successful delivery
• Collaborate with hardware and software stakeholders to integrate, test, debug, and improve embedded solutions across the full development lifecycle
• Drive and continuously improve agile ways of working, helping the team stay focused, remove obstacles, and deliver value efficiently
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, coaching, mentoring, and support for team development
• You will work across the embedded software stack, from low-level drivers and platform components to application-layer functionality, helping create robust and scalable solutions for real-world applications

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

• Extensive experience in embedded software development, with strong proficiency in C and practical experience using Python and shell scripting for testing, automation, and development tools
• Experience working with RTOS environments, embedded Linux, or other real-time systems
• Solid understanding of hardware-software integration, embedded debugging, and target-side testing
• Experience leading technical teams, projects, or development activities in an engineering environment
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage:

• Low-level software development, including drivers, HAL layers, platform components, or system software
• Multi-core architectures, POSIX APIs, and resource-constrained embedded systems
• Industrial or automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
• Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and continuous improvement practices
• These experiences can help you succeed in the role, but we recognize there are many paths to becoming a great Team Lead and embedded software engineer
