About the Role

As a Staff Backend Engineer , you'll design and build the core infrastructure powering intelligent decision-making across millions of insurance workflows. Working on the Core Backend team, you'll develop distributed services, scalable data models, APIs, and backend systems that transform fragmented data into explainable AI-driven decisions.

This is a high-ownership engineering role for someone who enjoys solving difficult backend challenges, building highly reliable systems, and shipping production software with real business impact.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable backend services using Python
• Architect distributed systems and high-performance APIs
• Develop data models and processing pipelines for large-scale AI applications
• Build asynchronous workflows and cloud-native backend infrastructure
• Improve system reliability, scalability, and observability
• Design robust PostgreSQL data architectures
• Collaborate closely with AI, Product, and Infrastructure teams
• Participate in technical architecture decisions and engineering best practices
• Continuously improve developer productivity and platform performance

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience (exceptional 5+ year candidates with Staff-level impact are encouraged to apply)
• Strong professional Python development experience
• Excellent system design, architecture, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Experience building distributed backend systems
• Hands-on experience with AWS, serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2), and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with asynchronous processing and event-driven systems
• Strong PostgreSQL or relational database expertise
• Builder mindset with high ownership and the ability to drive projects independently
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a fast-moving engineering environment
• EU-based with existing work authorization

• LLM or Generative AI experience
• Large-scale distributed systems
• Platform Engineering or SRE background
• AI infrastructure or ML platform experience
• Top-tier product company or big-tech experience
