Turn ideas into physical LEGO® play experiences using the full palette of LEGO elements.

Location: Billund, Denmark
Duration: 5 months
Internship period: February-June 2027
Application deadline: 1 November 2026

Where you will make your mark
As a Model Design Intern, you’ll be part of the LEGO Model Design Team – the creative hub where ideas are transformed into physical LEGO play experiences using our amazing LEGO elements. You’ll design, prototype and refine models that bring stories to life and spark play for children of all ages. Your work will directly shape the sets that end up in the hands of millions of builders worldwide.

What you bring

• You are pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Toy Design, Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Model Making, Innovation & Product Development, Sensory Design, Experience Design or a related field.
• You have a passion for play, creativity and hands-on model building.
• You are interested in designing LEGO models that deliver engaging play experiences, functional features and innovative building solutions.
• Your portfolio demonstrates physical model building, product design, interaction design, play-focused thinking or creative problem-solving. Experience with LEGO models is appreciated, and work featuring Technic building, mechanisms, functional play features or LEGO Smart Play® inspired experiences is particularly valued.
• You have some proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools.

Ready to take the leap?

• Submit your portfolio, CV and cover letter in English.
• Application deadline 1 November 2026

Before you apply
Please apply only if you meet all the criteria:

• You meet all the education, skills and portfolio criteria listed for this internship.
• You can join for the full internship period from February to June 2027.
• You are available to work in Billund for the full internship. This internship cannot be completed remotely.
• You are an active student throughout the internship, and the internship is an integrated part of your education.
• Completing the internship will not extend or delay your expected graduation date.

We offer internships across several design disciplines. Explore the different opportunities and apply only for the roles that genuinely align with your education, strengths and ambitions. Applying for every position will not increase your chances and can make it harder for us to understand where your passion, potential and dreams truly belong.

Inside LEGO DESiGN
The LEGO DESiGN organization is home to more than 600 creative professionals from around the world, united by a shared ambition to create meaningful play experiences. Different design disciplines, perspectives and crafts come together to turn ideas into products and experiences enjoyed across the globe.

As an intern, you will step into this creative environment and see how collaboration, curiosity, craft and experimentation shape the work. You will contribute your perspective while learning how a world-class design organization brings the future of play to life.

One program. One unforgettable experience.
The LEGO DESiGN Internship Program is a shared journey. From your first day in Billund, you will join a dedicated onboarding experience, be supported by a mentor and become part of an international community of design interns learning alongside one another.

You will be trusted to bring your point of view, encouraged to experiment and given space to grow your craft through real creative work. This is a chance to stretch yourself, build work you are proud of and create relationships that can continue well beyond the internship.

You will share accommodation with fellow design interns, making everyday life in Billund part of the adventure. Conversations can continue over dinner, new places can be discovered together, and friendships and networks will grow along the way. Come build your craft, your community and the next chapter of your design journey with us.
