Assistant Professors of Molecular Imaging

We are looking for three highly motivated and dynamic assistant professors who can lead molecular imaging projects as part of a 3-year position to commence between November 2026 and February 2027.

Our research
Cluster for Molecular Imaging was established in 2004 by Professor Andreas Kjær to pursue translational molecular imaging research. The research is driven by unmet medical needs and includes all steps from molecule identification to evaluation in patients with a strong focus on the transfer of new methods into clinical practice. The research covers several disease areas including oncology, immune-oncology, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory diseases. The group has so far translated 5 PET tracers into the clinic.

Cluster for Molecular Imaging has access to all necessary facilities for molecular imaging, including preclinical and clinical imaging facilities, cyclotrons, and radiochemistry as well as laboratories for molecular biology, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and a cell laboratory.

The group currently consists of 40 researchers covering a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, pharmacy, chemistry, engineering, biology, molecular biology, and physics.

Your job
You will join a multidisciplinary research team working on translational molecular imaging. 

You are expected to design, execute and analyse high impact translational research related to molecular imaging. The exact project(s) to be conducted depends on the candidate’s background and experiences.

The assistant professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

• research, including publication/academic dissemination duties
• research-based teaching
• sharing knowledge with society
• participation in formal pedagogical training programme for assistant professors
• Supporting fundraising activities

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

• You have a PhD in Molecular Imaging or an adjacent field
• You have an active interest in translational medical research and innovation
• You have documented pre- and postgraduate teaching experience
• Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
• Strong publication record corresponding to your career stage
• Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

• Experience within areas such as oncology, immunology, infectious diseases or related biomedical fields
• Experience working across academic, clinical, and/or industry settings
• Interest in innovation, translational science, or implementation of research into practice

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week for 1 position, and 18,5 hours for 2 positions.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 40,000 DKK (November 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The further process
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the hiring committee. Once the assessment work has been completed each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
