JOB DESCRIPTION

Public.com is seeking Senior Backend Engineers to join their dynamic trading team in Copenhagen. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of Public’s revolutionary trading platform.

Public is an investing platform that makes building a multi-asset portfolio fast, frictionless, and secure. Members can trade stocks, options, bonds, crypto, ETFs, and alternative assets — all in one place. Alongside its robust suite of investing tools, Public offers Alpha, a layer of artificial intelligence that provides fundamental data and custom analysis to support informed investment decisions.

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Public, you will become part of a development team located in Carlsbergbyen Copenhagen. In collaboration with the rest of the Copenhagen office, you will develop Public’s cutting-edge trading platform, enabling users to buy and trade stocks and options seamlessly. Public is looking for a candidate with an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial spirit; someone who is willing to learn quickly, take responsibility, and drive initiatives forward. Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs using Java Spring boot.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement new features and enhancements.
• Optimize performance and scalability of our trading platform to ensure a seamless user experience.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain code quality and reliability.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually improve our software architecture and development processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate is expected to have a BA or MA level in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant field, but experience from a similar role is more important.

Furthermore, Public envisions the candidate to have experience with the following:

• Strong proficiency in Java Spring boot and hands-on experience with backend development.
• Experience with Java or .NET is also relevant and can be considered.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced agile environment.
• Experience with the financial markets or trading platforms is a plus, but not required.
• Fluent in English.
