Ready to make an impact? In collaboration with DTU (Technical University of Denmark) , Milestone Systems is offering an exciting Industrial PhD position where you will contribute to cutting-edge applied research at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal AI, and video management systems.

You will help turn advanced AI research into real-world solutions that support trustworthy, explainable, and impactful security technologies.

Location
The Industrial PhD position is conducted in close collaboration between Milestone Systems and DTU, with time split between Milestone’s R&D environment and the university’s research setting.

The primary work location will be Denmark , with flexibility depending on project needs and academic requirements.

Role Summary
In this role, you will pursue an Industrial PhD degree while working on real-world challenges in a global technology company. You will combine academic research excellence with hands-on industrial development, contributing to innovation within Milestone XProtect and real security environments.
This is a unique opportunity to build deep research expertise while seeing your work deployed in production-grade systems within a fast-growing industry.

What You Will Do

• Conduct applied research on context-aware vision–language and multimodal AI models
• Develop methods for decision confidence estimation and explainable AI in security operations
• Implement, integrate, and validate research prototypes within Milestone XProtect
• Design and run experiments using public benchmarks and proprietary datasets
• Publish research outcomes in top-tier conferences and scientific journals
• Collaborate closely with researchers, product teams, engineers, and end-users
• Actively participate in knowledge transfer between academia and industry

What You Bring to the Team

Technical & Academic Background

• MSc degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, AI, or a closely related field
• Strong foundation in computer vision and machine learning
• Experience with deep learning, multimodal models, or representation learning
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (preferably PyTorch)
• Experience working with large-scale datasets and experimental evaluation
• Interest in human-AI interaction, explainability, or trustworthy AI

Research & Professional Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Curiosity, scientific thinking, and motivation to conduct high-quality research
• Ability to work independently while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams
• Good written and spoken English

About the Team
You will join Emerging AI Research at Milestone Systems, a team responsible for developing machine learning and AI-driven innovations with impact across Milestone’s product portfolio.

The team consists of research scientists working closely with product and engineering teams, as well as with universities through collaborations involving MSc students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers.
