To support this journey, Volkswagen Semler Finans is now looking for an experienced and people-oriented Head of Credit & Collections to lead and further develop the Danish Credit Management & Collections function.

THE POSITION

As Head of Credit & Collections, you will hold overall responsibility for leading the Credit Management and Collections team while ensuring operational excellence, strong governance and regulatory compliance.

You will play a key role in safeguarding the company’s assets through a strong risk-driven approach while balancing commercial pragmatism and business support. The role combines people leadership, operational responsibility and strategic development in a highly collaborative environment.

You will lead a team consisting of Credit Analysts and Collection Specialists and work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Operations and Group functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & People Management

• Lead, coach and develop a team of 7 employees across Credit Management and Collections
• Foster a culture built on trust, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Create an engaging and inclusive team environment where employees are encouraged to grow and develop their potential
• Ensure high-quality operational execution and clear stakeholder communication across all organisational levels
• Drive a positive and solution-oriented mindset within the team and wider organisation

Credit Management

• Oversee credit assessments and risk evaluations for high-risk customer segments
• Ensure high-quality financial analysis and risk-aligned lending decisions
• Maintain compliance with group procedures and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with stakeholders to pragmatically adapt European regulatory requirements into local operations
• Partner closely with Sales and Operations to support sustainable business growth while safeguarding risk exposure

Collections & Recovery

• Lead collection activities and management of overdue accounts
• Handle complex recovery and escalation cases
• Coordinate with external collection and legal partners
• Ensure proper handling and documentation of seized or confiscated vehicle cases

Governance & Process Excellence

• Implement and enforce group policies and regulatory standards
• Develop and monitor KPIs related to operational performance and portfolio quality
• Drive process optimisation, workflow standardisation and cross-functional efficiency initiatives
• Promote a strong risk-aware and data-driven culture across the organisation
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for a strong and inspiring leader with a pragmatic mindset, analytical capabilities and a genuine interest in developing both people and processes.

You likely bring:

• Significant experience within Credit Management and Collections
• Leadership experience with responsibility for teams and operational performance
• Strong financial analysis and risk assessment capabilities
• Experience working within regulated financial services environments
• Understanding of Danish credit, collections and insolvency regulations — or the ability to learn quickly
• Strong analytical and data-driven capabilities with an understanding of commercial dynamics and financial impacts
• Experience with KPI management, portfolio analytics and process optimisation
• The ability to translate regulatory and group requirements into operational processes
• A collaborative and inclusive leadership style
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A hands-on approach combined with a strategic perspective
• Fluency in Danish and English

Experience from automotive finance, banking, leasing or other regulated financial services industries will be considered an advantage.
